BioCare Codling Moth Monitoring Traps with Lures provide an effective way to determine the presence of a codling moth infestation in your fruit and nut trees. Moths emerge three to five times per year, and the monitoring traps make it easier to pinpoint their flight times so appropriate measures can be taken to control an infestation. Simply assemble the traps, place the included pheromone lures inside, and hang the traps 1 to 2 feet inside the middle canopy of each tree one to two weeks before bud break. The lures will attract male moths, which will become stuck in the traps.
The traps are monitoring devices only. They do not control the larvae that feed on fruit. If you find moths in the traps, take immediate action to control the larvae and prevent damage to your crop. The non-toxic, pesticide-free traps are safe to use around children, pets, and food. Replace the traps every four weeks or sooner if they are full.
