Suitable for small gardens, Cornus 'Venus' (Dogwood) is a vigorous, spreading small deciduous tree with many seasons of interest. In spring, a profusion of huge, creamy-white flowers, or bracts, 6 in. across (15 cm), cover the tree, creating a striking floral show. The blossoms may be followed by pinkish-red, strawberry-like fruit later in the season. In summer, its canopy of layered branches, clad with glossy green, oval to egg-shaped leaves, provides shade and beauty. In the fall, it offers spectacular bright colour when its foliage turns attractive shades of yellow, red, orange and purple.
